Dr Malcolm Mulholland
Malcolm became a health advocate following the diagnosis of his late wife, Wiki, with advanced breast cancer in 2018. The following year, Malcolm became the inaugural Chair of Patient Voice Aotearoa (PVA), a charitable trust that advocates for those patients with a cancer, rare disorder or chronic illness. Malcolm himself is a cancer survivor after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in 2022. Through the efforts of PVA, Pharmac has had its first external review in its then 27-year history with further reforms in the pipeline and has seen the agency have an increase in budget of over $700m.
